Below are some of the very best, funniest, and most interesting websites I've found. Categorically listed, there should be something for everyone, from the belligerent sociopath to the skeptical lurker and the neighborhood theist.

Index (click to view that section):

Atheist Websites

All atheism, all the time. Essays and topics of interest to all godless heathens.

  • The Secular Web, a.k.a. Internet Infidels - Very thorough and professional site taking the skeptic's hot knife thru the buttery, high-fat claims made by religions of all stripes. Includes a nifty discussion forum, where you, too can get your butt handed to you on a platter in debate, like so many others before you, after casually stating "did you know Darwin recanted on his deathbed?" or "if I die I and there's no God there's no problem, but if the atheist dies and there is..."
  • Positive Atheism - "Since September, 1995: Serving People With No Reason to Believe. Discussing the history, ethics and philosophy of atheism promotes liberty, responsibility and peace of mind. A magazine for nontheists."
  • After-Hourz.net - Run by a friend named Vinnie, this "Religious Insubordination"-themed website is a huge collection of serious articles on such weighty issues as the Problem of Evil and Biblical Criticism, humorous takeoffs on a variety of subjects from TV shows to fundamentalism, and a number of other things. There's even a forum for you to bitch at. Be sure to visit!
  • The-Archon.com - Another very thorough site with many essays, articles, and links on religion, pseudoscience, atheism and humanism. The Guide to Atheism, Freethought, Skepticism, Science, Rational Thought, and Humanism (here) is one of the best documents I've read on the web.
  • The Rejection of Pascal's Wager: a Skeptic's Guide to Christianity -  Quoted mission statement from the webpage: "This site presents the "fruits" of my intellectual journey from being a believing Christian into a convinced atheist. The journey was tumultuous, sometimes exasperating, but always interesting. The journey has taken me twelve years, but it has been worth it. The freedom to think for yourself, to live life to the fullest, to be a happy and moral human being have been the rewards of this journey. Perhaps this website is the beginning of your own quest of self-discovery."
  • Questioning: An Examination of Christian Belief - Excellent website detailing the journey from believer to atheist. The thoughts of a former Christian on such diverse subjects as the age of the earth, evolution, Biblical inerrancy, the afterlife, the existence of gods, ancient miracles, and more.
  • How to Answer Theist Arguments - A seminar series for atheists and freethinkers by Victor Stenger, Ph. D, Emeritus Professor of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Hawaii and Visiting Fellow in Philosophy. Watch as theist arguments are painfully dismantled before your very eyes, one by one.
  • LosingMyReligion.com - A support site for those leaving the Christian faith.
  • C h r i $ t i a n i t y - Bogus Beyond Belief - Provocative title, but the overall tone is completely civil; excellent articles, transcripts of discussions and even a forum for your own questions.
  • ChristianBurner.com - Arrogant, condescending and hilarious website which exposes the flaws and contradictions in the religion with the finest rapier wit. Not for the faint of heart or easily insulted.
  • The English Atheist - "Live, from Ye Olde Merrie Englande, it's the website of Martin J. Burn - an English Atheist. On this site are some articles that he has written, useful links, cutting quotes, home brew Atheist humour and midi files."
  • The Amicable Atheist - "Introducing refined atheism, with 80% less cynicism for a healthier outlook on life. A mentally balanced way to start your day!"
  • Ebon Musings: Reflections on Life, the Universe and Everything - "An atheist's perspective on life, the universe and everything. Original essays and humorous articles on atheism, theism, gods, religion, faith, the church, the universe and existence in general. Included here are topics such as the human sense of spirituality, the meaning of life, the problem of evil, philosophical arguments for and against the existence of God, critical examinations of various holy books and creeds, and a history of the fruits, good and bad, of religion. No sacred cows will be spared. Not recommended for the easily offended or those with closed minds."
  • The Singapore Atheist's Rants on Religion - What can I say? This site is not only funny and entertaining, but includes much relevant content ('Nutjobs on the Net' and '"Christian" Music?' are highlights.
  • Philosophy, Science, and Skepticism - Mark Vuletic's site, containing articles on atheism, philosophy, science and a number of other topics. The Tale of the Twelve Officers is a brilliant parody of common theistic rationalizations for the Problem of Suffering. .
  • The Ethical Atheist - Articles on ethics, science, education, religion, atheism, etc.
  • An Atheist's Site - Contains opinion pieces, articles, refutations to common theist arguments, and many other interesting things. Miracles in the Human Belief Engine (here) is a particularly recommended item.
  • Set Free! - "Dedicated to deconverting Christians from Christ, Fundies from Fundamentalism, and providing Atheistic Ammo to Freethinkers."
  • The Skeptical Review Online - exposing the myth of Biblical inerrancy since 1990!
  • Contra Craig - Dissects and disembowels the arguments of Evangelical apologist William Lane Craig with the greatest of ease.
  • Tektonics.org Exposed! - a site created to expose the rambling, incoherent, somewhat frightening, and ad hominem-laced apologetics of "J.P. Holding's" Tekton Ministries as the 'bullpuckey' they invariably turn out to be.
  • The Skeptic's Annotated Bible - whether it's God-ordained genocide, stoning disobedient teens, or telling women to shut up in church, the Bible has an answer for every conceivable moral problem! (Note: many of the "issues" this site raises are very questionable. I would strongly recommend not citing it as a source in a debate, double-checking anything it argues, and reading up on Christian rebuttals to see if they're actually reasonable, for once; however, it is a valuable, exhaustive reference of Biblical verses which repeatedly come up in debate, whether truly horrible or misunderstood.)
  • Sam’s side om ateisme - a collection of Norwegian essays on atheism and skepticism. Courtesy of, you guessed it, Sam!

Resources for Skeptics

Cutting the fact-free claims in human society to ribbons has never been easier...

  • CSICOP - The Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal. The name says it all. Sit back, grab some popcorn and watch as claims from Bigfoot to UFOs to faith healing are utterly demolished with the shining flame of science and reason.
  • The James Randi Educational Foundation - Another excellent resource for debunking all things paranormal. This one even includes a $1,000,000 challenge to present evidence of any supernatural phenomenon under controlled, scientific conditions. Many have tried; all have failed. Surprising, isn't it?
  • The Skeptic's Dictionary - From Bigfoot to Stigmata, it's all here and most likely debunked! Topics are nicely listed in a convenient alphabetical index.
  • Phil Plait's Bad Astronomy - From 'the moon landing hoax' to 'Planet X', you'll find it debunked here if it's stupid and deals with astronomy. Also includes an excellent discussion board where you can ask professional astronomers and others for assistance in refuting ignorant bozos.
  • Jim Loy's Pseudoscience Page - A large collection of essays which take a critical look at a diverse assortment of claims made by your friendly neighborhood bozos.
  • Gary Posner's Home Page - Created by a skeptical MD with a habit for carefully researching the alleged merits of "alternative medicine" like homeopathy and faith healing. Also includes several other refutations in the areas of astrology, UFO abductions, etc.
  • Quackwatch.org -  From the mission statement: "Quackwatch, Inc., a member of Consumer Federation of America, is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to combat health-related frauds, myths, fads, and fallacies. Its primary focus is on quackery-related information that is difficult or impossible to get elsewhere."
  • Critical Thinking on the Web - THE definitive site for reading about how best to expose fraud, bad logic, pseudoscience, and other things which make skepticism such a high priority in today's society. Contains a truly massive database of links to other, similar sites, as well.
  • Danny's Skeptic Resource List - A portal to the world of skepticism on the web. Contains an extensive collection of links to other sites.
  • Scientific American: Baloney Detection - A detailed exposition of various means, inspired by Carl Sagan's Demon Haunted World, by which claims can be ascertained as true or false. Includes criteria like reliability, falsifiability, verification and parsimony. Part 2, More Baloney Detection, can be found here.
  • Urban Legends Reference Pages  - Will Bill Gates really pay you a hundred bucks if you forward that suspicious email with awful grammar and spelling? Do large numbers of children actually fall victim to intentionally poisoned candy at Halloween? Is it true that massive organized crime rings of organ thieves are operating right under the noses of unsuspecting police in New Orleans? Well, no to all of them--this site explains those unfounded rumors and many more.
  • Ex-cult Resource Center - Information on cults, standard mind control tactics used by them, warning signs to watch out for, and other useful material.

Science vs. Creationism

Yes, Virginia, some people still believe the earth is flat and/or 6000 years old...

  • TalkOrigins - leading site in the mainstream science/creationism 'debate'. Although the debate has been over for a bit over a century, some people still take the claims of their ministers and unscrupulous individuals with Ph.D.'s from diploma mills and theological agendas over that of an overwhelming majority of scientists of all faiths and belief systems. We don't need to rely on the word of anyone, though--the evidence is right there for anyone with an open mind to make an informed decision for himself. If you're somewhat unfamiliar with evolution, be sure to check out the FAQ first, as it addresses common misconceptions such as 'evolution leads to atheism'. Once that's done, check out the excellent article '29+ Evidences for Macroevolution'. That's right--dozens of independent, often fundamentally different lines of evidence and confirmed predictions all converging on the same hypothesis.
  • TalkDesign - "Assessing the claims of the Intelligent Design movement from the perspective of mainstream science".
  • The American Scientific Affiliation - a fellowship of Christian scientists who share a commitment to integrity in scientific matters. All sorts of creationist arguments are debunked here.
  • National Center for Science Education - "A nonprofit, tax-exempt membership organization working to defend the teaching of evolution against sectarian attack. We are a nationally-recognized clearinghouse for information and advice to keep evolution in the science classroom and "scientific creationism" out."
  • No Answers in Genesis - Website pointing out the fact-free content in numerous creationist claims, most notably the ones used by Answers in Genesis itself.
  • The Evolution Evidence Page - Nice list of articles explaining the numerous lines of evidence for evolution in a down-to-earth, readable way. Also addresses many creationist arguments.
  • Evolution - One Christian's Perspective - A website countering creationism and advocating theistic evolution instead. Unfortunately, articles arguing for other barely defensible positions (such as the complete authenticity of Josephus' reference to Jesus) take it down a notch.
  • Glenn Morton's Creation/Evolution Page - Another Christian, this time a geologist, tackles numerous questions related to the global flood and age of the earth.
  • Ken Miller's Evolution Page - Evangelical Christian biologist Kenneth Miller tackles the assorted claims of the "Intelligent Design" movement, revealing its scientific and theological bankruptcy.
  • Creationist Lies and Blunders - "This site is dedicated to debunking a variety of falsehoods being propagated by creationists. Many are going to be outright lies though cases of glaring incompetence will be examined as well."
  • Analysis of Kent Hovind - Mammoth effort that refutes every last one of the legendarily incompetent claims made by "Dr. Dino" Kent Hovind of Creation Science Evangelism fame.
  • Things Creationists Hate - Exhaustive list of dozens of things that make young-earth creationists cry when reconciling their beliefs with reality.

Separation of Church and State / Civil Rights

Because the Christian Taliban aren't a big improvement over the Muslim type...

Archaelogy, Holy Books and Comparative Religion

On the trail of human mythology and its complicated origins...

  • Early Christian Writings - All of Early Christianity: the New Testament, Apocrypha, Gnostic gospels, the Church Fathers--all in one convenient repository of information and further resources. Peter Kirby's outstanding, humongous website, containing voluminous scholarly commentary and as unbiased information as you'll get anywhere, not just online.
  • Early Jewish Writings - Peter Kirby's equally exhaustive companion site, exploring the Old Testament, Talmud, works by Flavius Josephus and Philo of Alexandria, Dead Sea Scrolls, a huge number of apocalypses, etc.
  • Christian Origins - Kirby's delightfully informative blog, which also hosts various essays on early Christianity. (Is anyone beginning to suspect this "Peter Kirby" guy is Lt. Data, seven different people, or at the very least, was born with the mutant power of never needing sleep)?
  • Bible Origins - "This site presents the research of Walter Reinhold Warttig Mattfeld on the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. Using findings from Biblical Archaeology, the various books of the "Primary History" (Genesis-2 Kings) are dated; for the book of Genesis, certain Ancient Near Eastern concepts and motifs are identified as having been borrowed, transformed and reinterpreted by the Hebrews."
  • Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance - An agency promoting religious tolerance as a human right and presenting unbiased information on numerous such worldviews, from Asatru to Zoroastrianism.
  • Authorized English Translation of the Qu'ran - Although online Bibles abound in all shapes and sizes, resources on other religions are much less common online. Here, you can read an English translation of the Islamic holy text courtesy of Rashad Khalifa, Ph.D. Includes a side-by-side comparison with Arabic and commentary (here).
  • The Epic of Gilgamesh - An ancient legend describing the exploits of King Gilgamesh of Uruk, Babylonia. Includes a seemingly earlier, polytheistic version of the Noachic flood story found in Genesis.

Theist Websites

These websites are recommended because they feature:

  1. A kinder, gentler, more intelligent theism for the 21st century.
  2. Worthwhile humor or content that actually makes sense to read.
  3. Apologetics so embarrassingly awful that random dogs start howling as you read it.
  4. Gratuitous, arrogant and most entertaining use of condescension and ad hominem.
  • GlassTemple.com Witchcraft and Wicca Information - Information on various forms of paganism, the modern incarnation of which is known as Wicca. (No, they don't worship Satan.)
  • Savior-of-All.com - A Christian website that argues, rather convincingly, for universal salvation, i.e. that the sacrifice of Jesus redeemed all, not only believers. From reading testimonials of former believers, Hell appears to be the number one source of deconversion and cannot reasonably be reconciled with any image of a benevolent God. Luckily, you don't have to believe He created a fiery pit to torture most of his creation for eternity just to be a Christian.
  • BaptistWatch - A site started in response to Fred Phelps of "GodHatesFags" fame. That unsavory individual reached new lows of tasteless hate by picketing the funeral of a murdered gay man with signs reading "he's burning in hell now".
  • Virtual Office of Dr. William Lane Craig - Considered today's premier Christian apologist, most likely for the fact that his debating skills more than make up for his arguments.
  • Tekton Apologetics Ministries - The single most arrogant Christian site in the known universe, run by 'net apologist J.P. Holding. Useful resource for staying apprised of the latest arguments involving the Bible and their fundamentalist "refutations" (if one can discern the valid points from the ad hominem and sarcasm, that is).
  • A Christian Thinktank - Glenn Miller's website. The standard apologetic canards are all here, but, for a change, they're presented with a modicum of civility.
  • Bede's Library - "Here you will find my writings on faith, science and philosophy as well as loads of annotated links and book reviews. The aim of the Library is show how a person of a scientific background came to Christianity and has had his faith strengthened rather than weakened by argument and reason. It is intended for other seekers who want to be Christians but need to know that they will not be asked to commit intellectual suicide to become one."
  • DOXA - Apologetics website composed by a slightly dyslexic fellow who posts as "Metacrock" on a variety of online forums.
  • Access Research Network - Home of that modern incarnation of the God of the Gaps argument known as "Intelligent Design." Includes articles by Michael Behe (author of Darwin's Black Box), William Dembski, and others who really should have read Darwin's Origin of Species, chapter 6, where he put the old "irreducible complexity" argument to rest a century ago.
  • AnswersInGenesis - The premier young-earth creationist site on the planet, defending their bizarre version of Christianity from the evil "materialistic humanists", a.k.a. almost everyone living in the 21st century, including fellow Christians who accept an old earth and/or biological evolution (whom they charitably refer to as "useful idiots").
  • TrueOrigins - The fundie version of TalkOrigins. All the same, plagiarized (?) formatting with much fewer useful info, yet many more errors of fact, misquotes, logical fallacies, and cases where ignorance of basic scientific principles is displayed.
  • Creation Science Evangelism - You'll labor in vain to find a less credible creationist site than Kent "Dr. Dino" Hovind's. Even AiG and other creationists won't touch Hovind's claims with a ten-foot pole. That alone should tell you how awful they are.
  • Rapture Ready - One of the best arguments in existence against fundamentalism. The first time you read this website, you might think it's a bizarre parody ala LandoverBaptist. Not so - articles mentioning computers crashing because of Satan's interference and impending doomsday are 100% legitimate. Beware of brain cell loss.
  • Geocentricity - You have to hand it to these guys. Whereas the young-earth creationists pick and choose which parts of the Bible to believe, the Biblical Astronomer, as this organization is called, only remain inconsistent in rejecting the flat-earth supporting verses...
  • Jack Chick Publications - World-famous makers of "Chick tracts", those little booklets with paranoid and insane ramblings that make even the majority of Christians blush whenever the name is brought up. Over the years, they've spawned many parodies; nevertheless, parodying a Chick tract is generally considered redundant in the first place.

Humor

Once in a while, it becomes important to let your hair down and just laugh off the stress.

  • LordCo Centre - Rip-roaringly hilarious, this comprehensive and extremely sacrilegious parody site offers, among other things, a list of mock products ranging from the handheld 'PrayStation' video game to 'Burning Bush Vaginal Cream'. HIGHLY recommended. Sneak previews of upcoming products are available at the forum, where you can also suggest your own and do a number of other silly things.
  • Landover Baptist Church - "Where the worthwhile worship. Unsaved unwelcome." One of the biggest, most holier-than-thou fundamentalist churches in America.
  • It's The End Of The World As We Know It... Again - an entertaining look at the various apocalyptic prophets and crackpots throughout history. You'd think people wouldn't be stupid enough to fall for them again, and again, and again, and again...
  • The Borg of Heaven - quite a disturbing look at the Biblical description of heaven, comparing it with the Borg Collective from Star Trek: the Next Generation.
  • EAC (Evil Atheist Conspiracy) Officially Unofficial Website of Doom - err, you didn't really see this one. It doesn't exist. Honest.
  • The Flat-out Truth - here's a juicy excerpt: "The facts are simple," says Charles K. Johnson, president of the International Flat Earth Research Society. "The earth is flat." Now isn't that lovely? Sadly, this is not a joke. The rest of the links below are, however.
  • Kissing Hank's Ass - Hilarious parody of annoying cult proselytizing, be it Mormon, Jehovah's Witness or other, courtesy of Rev. Jim Huber.
  • Ask Doctor Bible - solid advice by Dr. Paul Bible on matters ranging from relationships to educating children.
  • Harwood's Wager - a powerful argument for why you should believe in the Hellenistic Pantheon (a.k.a. ancient Greek gods) even if they don't exist. After all, if you're wrong, you lose nothing!
  • How to be a Bible Apologist - are those nasty atheists getting you down by revealing that the Bible says something, then something entirely different elsewhere? Well, you don't have to take it lying down! Just a little cognitive dissonance and insanity will enable you to fight off their Satanic attacks upon your faith.
  • How to Think Like a Fundie! - Still having trouble rewiring your thought patterns to ignore common sense, morality and the last 500 years of science just to maintain your literal, inerrant view of the Bible? Well, you've come to the right place! After taking the suggestions in this article to heart, you will be a bona-fide, certified, raving lunatic willing to defend God-ordained genocide, rape and torture when they come up in online debate.
  • The Adventures of God-Man - the only comic book superhero with omnipotent powers!
  • The Big List of Arguments for God's Existence - with indisputable proof such as this, how can there be any atheists at all?
  • The Jack T. Chick Parody Archive - "The cartoons on this site are clever imitations of Jack Chick's famous Comic book tracts, handed out for free by hundreds of brain-dead street-preachers and Evangelical Fundamentalist-zombies world-wide. The comics here are parodies or satires. This site was created strictly for amusement and educational purposes."
  • YECCH! Young Earth Creationists Conquering Hell - "Dr. Don K. Hottie" satirizes the leaders and arguments of the YEC movement.
  • Elephanticity: the Truth can no Longer be Denied - have your kids been taught the unproven theory of electrons causing electricity as *fact*?! Well, no longer can these 'scientists' lie--perfectly legitimate alternatives do in fact exist. Teach them all or teach none at all!
  • Scientific Babelism - Well, so much for electricity... now how about linguistics?!
  • The Dark Sucker Theory - For many years, scientists believed that light bulbs emit light, but they've been proven wrong (as if they were ever right). So-called "sources of light" don't actually emit light. They suck dark. Therefore, we call them Dark Suckers.
  • The Cult Construction Kit - Ever wanted to start your own cult, but were a bit short on ideas? Well, now you don't even need anything original! Just pick and choose from various convenient pre-selected beliefs, then get ready-made Bible verses to use in support of your interpretation!
  • God's Total Quality Management Questionnaire - "God would like to thank you for your belief and patronage. In order to better serve your needs, He asks that you take a few moments to answer the following questions. Please keep in mind that your responses will be kept completely confidential, and that you need not disclose your name or address unless you prefer a direct response to comments or suggestions."
  • Religious Merger Creates 900 Million Hinjews - "Hinjew leaders today conceded the merger of Hinduism and Judaism has not worked out as planned, as instead of forming a super-religion to fight off the common Islamic enemy, they have instead created a race of 900 million people who, no matter how many times they are reincarnated, can never please their mothers."

Forums

Like-minded banter, intelligent debate, fundamentalist hilarity from the bowels of Hell...

  • Internet Infidels Discussion Forum - a very huge, voluminous forum, courtesy of the Secular Web. Thousands of members, dozens of forums, a gazillion posts, and knowledgeable experts in all fields of study ranging from New Testament history to physics.
  • Freethought Forum - in terms of sheer features, probably the coolest board that's ever existed online. Hacked up to a truly amazing level by its tireless admins, if there's a feature you'd like in a webboard, it's probably here. To name but one example of how much work went into it, there are over 1000 smilies available, many of them custom-designed and unique. Additionally, as of May 6, 2005, this place lives up to its name, and has a policy of effectively zero moderation; jackasses and trolls get the "ass" part handed back to them on a platter via witty repartee, not the "Ban" button.
  • Heathen Hangout - "The Heathen Hangout (HH) is a private discussion forum dedicated to being a social club and semi-support forum for non-theists." As of May 6, 2005, "non-theist" would include Deists, Wiccans, Pantheists, and others who reject belief in a "monotheist, interventionist god." A good place to, as the name implies, hang out, gossip, scheme and whine on others' shoulders. It's hidden from Google and other Internet spiders, and has a very stringent policy on revealing anything posted there outside of it, addressing many privacy concerns. Heathen Hangout will always have a special place in my heart, too, as it has the noted distinction of being the board where I met the love of my life, Jessica.
  • TheologyWeb - Home of much debate between Christians and nonbelievers. Debating ground of J.P. Holding, webmaster of the ubėr-arrogant Tektonics Apologetics Ministries.
  • Christian Forums - website primarily geared toward Christian discussions. Nevertheless, it's one of the more attractive boards out there and contains several forums where nonbelievers can fellowship and argue with believers.
  • Rapture Ready Message Board - The forum associated with the Rapture Ready site itself. Legendary for its amount of logical fallacies and hilarious fundie arguments, literally hundreds of which have been immortalized in FSTDT! on this very site. Warning: prolonged exposure may cause sterility in males and frigidity in females.
  • Payable On Death Warrior Community - forum of the Christian rock band, now finally reopened after many months of downtime resulting from a gang of crazed moderators. Many ridiculous assertions on the nature of Life, the Universe and Everything are routinely made here by teenaged fanbots. Now with ugly-ass colors!
  • Theology Forums - not to be confused with TheologyWeb (above), this board attracts less traffic but is much more attractive in overall design. Some pretty aggravating theists stalk these halls; in some respects, the board can be described as 'RaptureReady v.2.0'.
  • Evolution vs. Creation Forum - Message board dedicated to the sole topic of debating mainstream science vs. the various flavors of creationism and associated discussions.
  • CreationTalk - Another forum like the above, this one is hosted by a creationist website. However, unlike many, they apparently don't censor damaging rebuttals, making them an attractive choice for the knowledgeable layperson and scientist alike. Not a great deal of activity will be found here, however.
  • Bad Astronomy Bulletin Board - The counterpart to the BA site listed above. Many scientists are on hand who love to poke holes the size of canyons in pseudoscientific nonsense.
  • Atheist Network Message Board - Some of the rudest atheists on the net post here, so theists have been warned. Aside from that, nothing significant to recommend itself outside of the topic. Try II, TW or CF instead.
  • BlizzForums - Forum dedicated to Blizzard Co. and its games: StarCraft, WarCraft, Diablo and others. Information on making maps, editing character attributes, finding good strategies, etc. A nicely active Serious Discussion forum for religion, politics and other sensitive topics.

Other Useful Stuff

Random websites that are just cool as Hell (oh, wait...)

  • BugMeNot - ever been annoyed by a website which asks you to register, obnoxiously demanding all kinds of personal information, before it even lets you read it? BugMeNot contains a huge collection of disposable logins and passwords (example: "john/doe") to all manner of sites, letting you bypass compulsory web registration and read them anyway.

  • Make A Shorter Link - have you ever copied and pasted, say, a link from an online auction into an email or forum post, only to realize it was three lines long and, because of line breaks, now unusable? Well, Make a Shorter Link can help! Just enter the enormous, problem URL (web address) you're stuck with, and you'll get a much shorter one that works the same. Anyone who clicks it will be redirected to the regular, humongous link

  • YouSendIt - need to send a huge file? Unsure whether your email recipient has enough space in their inbox, or whether they can get large attachments? Sure, you could split them up into smaller files, or add them to your website, or coordinate an AIM file transfer... but why bother! YouSendIt allows you to upload a file up to 1 GB (that's right, one GIGABYTE!) and stores it on their server for several days, dispatching an email to the recipient with a download link. Perfect for sharing your cousin's band's MP3s, the latest uproarious Flash video circulating across the net, or really, any large file that would prove awkward for sending via email and other methods. Oh, and did I mention this great service is free? (Note: in case you're worried about spam, the download link is also shown when you upload the file, so you don't even need to specify a valid email address for yourself OR the recipient; you can tell them where to grab it personally.)
